The divine tale of courage, cosmic disruption, and supreme blessings.
As a young child, Lord Hanuman (then known as Maruti) awoke one morning feeling incredibly hungry. Looking up at the sky, he saw the glowing red sun rising in the east. In his childish innocence, he mistook the glowing sphere for a giant, ripe, delicious mango.
Blessed with divine powers from his father, Vayu (the Wind God), Maruti leaped into the sky with immense speed to grab the "fruit". His speed and energy were so intense that even the sun god Surya was alarmed. At the same time, Rahu was approaching to cause a solar eclipse but was pushed away by the mighty child.
Fearing a cosmic disaster if the sun was swallowed, Lord Indra, the king of gods, threw his ultimate weapon, the Vajra (thunderbolt), at Maruti. It struck him on the jaw (Hanu), causing him to fall back to earth unconscious.
Enraged by the attack on his son, Vayu withdrew all the air from the universe, causing chaos. To appease Vayu, the Trinity and all the gods revived the child. Because of his broken jaw, he was named "Hanuman". The gods then showered him with immense boons—making him immortal, invincible in war, and granting him absolute wisdom, shaping him into the supreme devotee we revere today.
बाल्यावस्था में एक दिन प्रातःकाल भगवान हनुमान (मारुति) को बहुत भूख लगी। आकाश की ओर देखने पर उन्हें पूर्व दिशा में लाल चमकता हुआ सूर्य दिखाई दिया। अपने बालपन और अज्ञानता में, उन्होंने उस चमकते हुए सूर्य को एक मीठा, पका हुआ फल (आम) समझ लिया।
पवन देव के पुत्र होने के कारण मारुति में अद्भुत शक्तियां थीं। उन्होंने एक ही छलांग में अंतरिक्ष की ओर उड़ान भरी। उनका तेज इतना था कि सूर्यदेव भी घबरा गए। जब इंद्रदेव ने देखा कि एक बालक सूर्य को निगलने वाला है, तो उन्होंने सृष्टि को अंधकार से बचाने के लिए अपने वज्र से मारुति पर प्रहार किया।
वज्र उनके हनु (ठुड्डी) पर लगा, जिससे वे मूर्छित होकर पृथ्वी पर गिर पड़े। अपने पुत्र की यह दशा देखकर पवन देव क्रोधित हो गए और उन्होंने पूरे ब्रह्मांड से वायु का प्रवाह रोक दिया। त्राहि-त्राहि मचने पर ब्रह्मा जी और सभी देवताओं ने आकर बालक को जीवित किया।
ठुड्डी (हनु) टूटने के कारण उनका नाम "हनुमान" पड़ा। फिर सभी देवताओं ने उन्हें अद्भुत वरदान दिए—अमरता, अपार बल, और असीम ज्ञान, जिससे वे त्रैलोक्य में सबसे शक्तिशाली और श्रीराम के परम भक्त बने।
